There are literally thousands of job search websites on the Internet. But, where should you look for teaching jobs?

The first step is to identify the type of website for which you are looking:

EducationAmerica.net Whether you use the quick search option or you browse the most recent job postings, you will find a large collection of job leads at EducationAmerica.net. For the best results, browse according to grade level or subject.

SchoolSpring.com SchoolSpring.com offers teachers free job search tools. You can browse using the quick search feature or narrow your results using the advanced search feature.

Teachers-Teachers.com Teachers-Teachers.com is a recruitment service for teachers in all subjects and grade levels. You must set up an account to use the service and gain access to potential leads from over 1,800 schools.

Job.Teachers.Net At Teachers.net you can gain access to K-12 job vacancies as well as tutoring opportunities for certified teachers. Post a resume, and you can be considered for several part-time and full-time teaching opportunities.

AcademicCareers.com To get the most of this job search site, Search job openings by school type, job title, or location. If you want you can submit a resume that is made available to administrators looking to fill positions at their schools. Try a search here

CharterSchoolJobs.com CharterSchoolJobs.com offers free and paid membership job listings. If you don’t pay for a membership, you will only have access to charter school teaching positions from sponsoring schools.

TeacherJobs.com TeacherJobs.com is a free job-hunting resource for teachers and schools. You can post a resume and search job postings for K-12 leads.

TopSchoolJobs.org Top School Jobs is operated by Education Week. On this site you can search for academic positions in grades K-12 as well as gain access to professional development materials that can increase your chances of a job offer.

ChristianSchoolEmployment.com If you are looking for elementary, middle school, or high school teaching jobs in Christian schools, this site takes you straight to the relevant job leads. The most recent openings are updated on the main page, and you can sign up for email alerts too.

Jobs4Teachers.com Teacher Planet offers a host of job search resources for teachers. You will find a thorough listing of job search websites for teachers of all subjects in grades K-12 and beyond. Use this site more like a bookmark, as specific openings are not listed.

WantToTeach.com At WantToTeach.com you can find educational job openings in schools across the United States. Find school contacts and locate upcoming job fairs to make your job searches more effective.

General Job Websites

Monster.com Because Monster.com is a general job search engine, you will want to narrow your results. In the job title window, type teacher and use the drop-down menu to find specific openings. Create a profile and resume to use for multiple applications, but remember to send targeted cover letters for better results.

CareerBuilder.com Education Jobs When you search for education jobs at CareerBuilder.com you will be inundated with over 10,000 results. Use a city or zip code search to find jobs close to home. Then when you have applied to those jobs closest to you, gradually expand your search radius.

Indeed.com Education Jobs To find jobs on Indeed.com just type a job title like “elementary teacher” and a location and find K-12 jobs in your area. Using the salary search tools is a good idea for teachers who may be relocating to a new area.

Job-Hunt.org Academic Jobs At Job-Hunt.org you not only get links to job search databases, you also get advice and tips for how to search jobs more effectively. If you can’t find what you are looking for here, check out the additional resources links.

School-Jobs.net School-Jobs is a job search bulletin boards for teachers that gives you free access to job postings and lets you post your own resume. You can even search for positions according to your salary requirements.

Quintessential Careers Teaching Jobs Quintessential Careers gives you more than a dozen links to top K-12 teaching databases. Search the job index and post a resume to make yourself visible to hiring schools.

K12 Jobspot Use the interactive map tool to find K-12 jobs in a specific location or search jobs by keyword and type. This listing contains leads for more than 8,500 jobs.

TopSchoolJobs.org If you are looking for teaching jobs in a new state, you can use this site to find jobs. You can also get teacher certification and salary information to help you compare openings.

AllEducationJobs.com This job search resources lets you perform all traditional searches and also lets you see what job searches are the most popular. If you are looking for a no-frills approach to the job search, AllEducationJobs.com is a straight-forward, easy to use site.

Teaching Jobs on Hound.com With the Hound.com job search site, you can set up multiple job title, location, or employer searches and have alerts emailed to you regularly. This is a great way to conduct a job search for a specific school system or district.

Education Jobs on CareerOverview.com Career Overview gives you job postings, job search website links, and other employment resources. Listings by state are available if you need to narrow your search geographically.

Professional Organizations

American Federation of Teachers The American Federation of Teachers makes it possible for you to keep up on the latest in the field of K-12 teaching. Use the newsletter and events for job search and networking advancement opportunities.

National Association of Special Education Teachers The NASET Career Center helps special education teachers find jobs through the K-12 employment network. On this page you will find valuable links to job search tools.

Texas Classroom Teachers Association As a benefit to members, the TCTA compiles a list of teaching positions open throughout Texas. While specific positions are not listed, an abundance of job banks are linked making it easier to find openings.

National Council of Teachers of English The NCTE lists job availability for K-12 English teachers on their career opportunities page. While the listing is good for subject-specific job searches, the site is not updated very frequently. Use it with other search tools.

National Science Teachers Association That NSTA makes it easy for science teachers to find subject-specific jobs at the K-12 level. You can post a resume, save searches, check out featured employers, and more.

The National Association for Music Education For teachers of music in grades K-12 the MENC site can help you find jobs in music educations. You can also gain access to job search tools on the organization’s career resources page.

National Association of Independent Schools If you are looking for a K-12 education job in an independent school, the NAIS lists career opportunities and allows you to post and save resumes and applications. Search via keyword for a more specific listing of jobs.

National Art Education Association The NAEA provides career services and opportunities to job seekers in the subject of K-12 art. Search, email, and save jobs you want to apply for with your online account.

American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages This job listings posted here are specifically target to teachers of foreign languages. For easier browsing, you can filter results according to location or grade level. Try it at jobcentral.actfl.org

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics The NCTM lets you post an anonymous resume online that can be viewed by potential employers. In addition, you can search jobs and sign up for personal job alerts.

School District Websites

Los Angeles Unified School District The LAUSD website has everything you need to start job hunting in Los Angeles. From job openings, to retirement information you can decide whether working here is the right thing for you. Make sure you check out the reference on union contracts if you are thinking of applying.

New York City Department of Education The NYC Department of Ed employs over 135,000 full-time staff members. Select the link for teaching careers and explore job openings in new small schools or for traditional careers. Do not leave the site without checking out the Teacher Hiring Support Center.

Chicago Public Schools Find job openings in Chicago’s public school system. When you apply, your application is made available to more than 600 K-12 schools around Chicago. Check out the Teach Chicago Turnarounds link for even more job search opportunities here.

Houston Independent School District For HISD jobs, click on the link to apply online and click the jobs tab. You will find instructional support staff job listings. While most positions are open until filled, a few have deadlines so get your applications submitted in plenty of time.

Phoenix Union High School District The Phoenix Union High School District offers a complete list of job openings. You should note that people applying outside of the district are required to submit applications to the HR department. Make sure you have everything submitted by 4:00 p.m. on the closing date, or you will not be considered.

San Diego Unified School District You can search through San Diego USD’s job database and apply online. It is highly recommended that you read through the application instructions carefully before submitting your application.

Detroit Public Schools The Detroit Public School system job bank gives you an up-to-date listing of openings throughout the district in grades K-12. For better chances of getting a job offer, browse the vacancies in critical shortage areas first.

Indianapolis Public Schools Find jobs with IPS using the online database. Once you have applied you can save and edit your application for future postings. Note that positions marked with an asterisk are only open to internal applicants.

Milwaukee Public Schools Milwaukee Public Schools has a complete listing of K-12 job vacancies available. After finding jobs to apply for, read the Online Application Instructions form and complete your application.

Denver Public Schools You can view all of the available positions at Denver Public Schools, but the application process requires that you login in to the system. Check your application meticulously before submitting. Once it has been submitted, it cannot be edited.

Minneapolis Public Schools The Minneapolis Public Schools job search database contains a list of current vacancies as well as some positions that are marked “Always Open.” Applicants for these jobs are used to create a talent pool, and openings may not be immediately available. Select wisely.

Cleveland Metropolitan School District Note that there are different application processes for internal applicants and non-district applicants. Public job openings are listed first on the job listings page.

Colorado Springs Schools Search and apply for jobs at Colorado Springs Schools at this site. Don’t submit an application without reviewing the required documents list for preparing a complete application file.

Tulsa Public Schools While there is no search option for browsing jobs, you can display all current openings. The application process requires you to log into the Tulsa Public School’s online system.

Wake County (Raleigh, NC) Public Schools Use this site to search for K-12 teaching jobs in the Raleigh-Durham area. Substitute teaching applications are also available via a separate link.

District of Columbia Public Schools To apply for positions with the District of Columbia school system, create an online account. You can even follow on Twitter for the most recent job openings.

Dallas Independent School District For work at the Dallas Independent School District, check out the listings for K-12 campus jobs, and don’t forget to check out summer school opportunities as well. They are listed separately.

Seattle Public Schools You can view all openings within Seattle Public Schools by clicking their Job Opportunities link. You can filter your selections by category, employment type, and closing date for a more customized search.

Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools With the Metro Nashville Public School job listings you can search for jobs in elementary through high school levels. On the job listing page, click the job title for more detailed job descriptions and a list of preferred qualifications.

Clark County (Las Vegas, NV) School District lark County Schools in Las Vegas employ more than 37,000 people. To find a teaching job, click on the link for licensed personnel and read the listing of vacancies. Only job titles are given, so call human resources for more specific information.

State Websites

State Resources for Teaching Jobs The Directory of Resources for Teaching Jobs is a collection of links for Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia a Wyoming. You will not find actual job postings on this site, but you might want to bookmark it anyway.

EdJoin.org EdJoin is a public teaching job database for the state of California, and it lists more than 16,000 vacancies. To get the most out of the site, take advantage of the listed recruitment events.

Kansas Educational Employment Board Use this site to perform advanced searches for K-12 teaching jobs in the state of Kansas. As an added bonus, you can participate in the Virtual Career Fair hosted by the Kansas Recruitment and Retention Program.

NJSchoolJobs.com Not only can you search for New Jersey teaching jobs through this site, you can also get notified of new job postings through email. Take advantage of the Education Info section to stay on top of the latest teaching trends and topics in the state.

School Administrators Association of New York State You can sign up for job alerts, search the job database, and post your resume with the SAANYS site. Make sure your resume is perfect, as school administrators across the state will be able to review your credentials.

Teaching in Pennsylvania The interesting thing about the Teaching in Pennsylvania site is that it is operated by teachers for teachers. They scour the world of teaching jobs for you and then post them for you by category. If you are looking for a K-12 job in this area, check this page often.

Connecticut Teaching Jobs This site connects teaching professionals with school districts throughout the state of Connecticut. Fill out your application online and apply to as many teaching positions as you like. There is no fee to use the service on this site.

Illinois Education Job Bank With the Illinois Association of School Administrators job site, you can create a profile, build a resume, and save job posts and searches. If you do not have time to fill out an entire application, use the save jobs feature and come back to it later.

West Virginia Department of Education Take advantage of the Job Flash Service if you are looking for a K-12 teaching job in West Virginia. The Job Flash Service gives you a daily digest of new positions as they open. Search for jobs by county and grade level to get the most relevant search results.

Washington State K12 Jobs The Washington State K-12 teachers’ job site can help you find a job from start to finish. Learn about alternative routes to teacher certification, get jobs, and learn about retirement benefits for teachers too.

Wisconsin K12 Job Search The K-12 Job Search page for Wisconsin is operated by the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Use all of the resources offered here to find jobs throughout the state and throughout the world.

Michigan Teaching Jobs Search for K-12 job opportunities in Michigan with this comprehensive database. Check out the site’s search tips to help narrow your results to only the most relevant teaching positions.

Teach in Florida In addition to using Teach in Florida for finding job openings, use it to find a better job. Through the site’s FAQ you can learn about salaries for Florida teachers and becoming licensed to teach in Florida from another state.

Teach Louisiana This site gives you the latest educational job postings for the state of Louisiana. Use all of tools available, including job fair information to help you find the right job. This site also offers a helpful tool so you can track your job application status.

Success Link Missouri Teaching Jobs This Missouri employment website is operated by SuccessLink and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Ed. The job search tool lets you look for teaching positions by region so you can find openings close to home.

Teach Iowa Iowa also operates a statewide educational job bank that is free to job seekers and job posters alike. To search for jobs, select an area from the zone map and then choose from any number of K-12 teaching categories.

New Mexico Teaching Jobs New Mexico offers cooperative educational services making it easier for teachers to find positions throughout all teaching districts. Refine your search by district, and make sure you check out the Job Fair and Special Info sections when you visit their site.

Minnesota Teaching Jobs The Minnesota Association of School Administrators operates this extensive job database for the state. Applicants can complete applications online and get important information about licensing in the state. Not sure when your license expires? View it online and stay current.

Idaho Board of Education The Idaho State Board of Education posts educational job opening throughout the state’s K-12 school districts. Only very general information is posted on this site, so call or email the individual school districts for more detailed information about vacancies.

Mississipi Public School Teaching Vacancy List This list of job vacancies is maintained by the Mississippi Teacher Center. The positions are listed by district, but there is no search feature. Mississipi Public School Teaching Vacancy ListCheck the listings carefully to make sure you do not miss out on a posted opportunity.

ServingSchools.com Maine Teaching Jobs ServingSchools.com lists education job openings throughout the state of Maine. Jobs are added to the database every do, so you may find it helpful to check the job bank at least twice a week.

Teach Oregon The Oregon School Personnel Association has made it easier for you to find jobs across the state in K-12 settings. In addition to finding open jobs, use the links to the other professional resources to build your professional network and increase your chances of being hired.

ArkansasEd.org Find K-12 career opportunities in Arkansas that are listed by the Arkansas Department of Education. If you need help deciding which jobs to apply for, check out the resources for pay grades and salary information.

Kentucky Department of Education Find certified teaching opportunities posted at the Kentucky DOE website. Use the Kentucky Educator Placement Service (KEPS) to streamline your application process and make sure you get all required materials to hiring authorities.

Public Schools of North Carolina Search for K-12 teaching jobs in North Carolina at its 115 different school systems. On their site, you can apply for positions even though there may not be an opening, so submit your application even if you do not see an opening for the kind of position you want.

Private Tutoring

TutorMatch.com Tutor Match offers free and premium services for tutors. Fill out your profile completely to receive the best results, as students and teachers are matched based on education, experience, tutoring style and more.

TutorNation.com You can get private, in-home jobs or online tutoring jobs through TutorNation.com. There is a registration fee, but the company promises you will earn many times over what you pay for membership; otherwise, they will extend your membership for free.

Jobs4Tutors.com Parents select tutors based on their profiles on Jobs4Tutors.com. All candidates submit to a background check and go through a personal interview, so brush up on your traditional interview skills before you apply.

Plus Plus Tutoring At Plus Plus Tutoring all employees work as independent contractors, and the minimum pay for tutors is $15 per hour. In addition, if you travel more than 10 miles for a session, you will be reimbursed for gas. They have several openings for working with K-12 students.

Wyzant Tutoring Wyzant Tutoring offers tutoring, teaching and coaching. In order to apply for teaching jobs you must establish an account with Wyzant. Without an account, you will not be able to contact potential students. Remember to narrow your search by subject as college level jobs are posted here too.

TutoringServices.com At tutoring services online, anyone can be sign up to offer tutoring services. The site connects students with potential tutors. Teachers must sign up for a membership at TutoringServices.com, but there is no cost for listing your services. If online tutoring and homework help interest you, this site could be very rewarding.

Almon Tutors Almon Tutors serves a defined are that includes New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. Tutors will be carefully screened at Almon Tutors, so an outstanding resume and solid references are a must.

Teachers.net Teachers.net offers a classified listing for people in search of tutors. Review the classified listings carefully as sometimes requests for karate tutors are mixed in among the requests for academic K-12 tutors.

BrainFuse.com To work for Brainfuse.com you must first submit a resume for consideration, and then complete the application process after being given a registration code. Jobs are available in several subjects and at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels.

My Tutor 24 My Tutor 24 does not always have job openings available, so you may need to check back frequently for available positions. You can tutor K-12 students from home, but a broadband internet connection is a must. My Tutor 24 also requires its tutors to work with a Pentium III PC or better.

TutorVista.com Tutor Vista offers teachers online tutoring jobs. There is no list of open jobs available on the site, but you can submit your application to work with a variety of international students. Keep in mind that while you can work flexible hours, you still need to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours each day to tutoring through this site.

Other Websites

Boarding School Review The Boarding School Review job listing links you to college prep and boarding school positions. This site can be a good resource for finding teaching jobs in schools nationally and internationally.

Carney, Sandoe, & Associates Carney, Sandoe, & Associates is a matchmaking service for teachers and independent schools. Before you begin the application process, check out the company’s FAQ for information on how the company connects you with potential employers and extra tips for aiding you during your job search.

Connections Academy Connections Academy hires virtual K-12 teachers in various states. If you are looking for a traditional teaching opportunity, this site may not be for you. If you decide to apply, remember that you need to fill out a separate application for each position you want to be considered for.

RISE Network Resources for Indispensable Schools and Educators is a non-profit organization that shares job leads for K-12 teachers in emerging schools and low-income communities. Before you apply, it is highly recommended that you review the minimum qualifications posted to make sure you fulfill the necessary teaching requirements.

American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence ABCTE publishes jobs from its partner districts. They are organized by location, and you can click to access an online application from the job listing page. In addition, use the Job Fairs link to enhance your teaching job search.

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards post jobs on Accomplished Teacher every day. Only jobs submitted to Accomplished Teacher are posted. You might want to subscribe to the job boards, but use this to supplement your search and not as a sole source for job leads.

Public Charter Schools Job Board With this national public charter school listing you can search for jobs all over the nations. For the best results, filter your search by job type. Otherwise administrative and support staff positions may also be included in your search results.

Illinois Network of Charter Schools At this site, you will find a comprehensive list of open positions in Illinois Charter schools. Schools must send openings to the site administrator. While positions are updated weekly, it may not contain openings from every charter school in the state.

Below is a list of open positions at Illinois charter schools and other education nonprofits or educational institutions. This list is updated weekly as schools share openings. For more details about a position, click on the job title.

Council for American Private Education This Maryland based organization lists teaching jobs in the private education sector. The jobs linked on the site come from 16 area private school teaching job banks.

Bay Area Private Schools The Online Guide to Bay Area Private schools is more than just a job bank. At this site you will find a collection of job postings, classifieds for educators, summer teaching jobs, and resources for professional development and job search tips.
