Kim Wood Bio

For the past five years I served as a full-time secondary educational consultant. I worked directly with secondary school administrators and staff around the country to develop programs and strategies for high school credit recovery, skill remediation, dropout prevention, criterion-based writing and improved achievement on standardized tests.

During my 30+ years as an educator and consultant I have taught at both the high school and university level, for which I received several teaching awards. Subjects taught included German, Computer Applications, Instructional Technology for Educators, English as a Second Language and Technical Writing.

My pursuit of strategies to help students learn led me directly to educational technology, and with the expertise I acquired I served for five years as the Director of Instructional Technology for a K-12 school district.

As a successful grant-writer, I have been able to secure more than $600,000 in grant assistance for the schools and organizations which employed me.

With a lifelong passion and gift for writing, I have been a successful freelance writer with a long list of magazine, website and journal publishing credits in the areas of education and instructional technology.

I am a successfully published children’s author with five books written for middle grade readers:  The Power of Horses; The Magic of Horses; Visions of the Buffalo People; Forelocks, Fetlocks & Horse Tales; Heart, Hoof & Soul.
